SUPERB!

Summary

We liked the overall taste and texture of the Masala Pasta Treat and the Sour Cream Onion variant. However, the Tomato Cheese and the Creamy Corn Tricolor Pasta were a disappointment and failed to justify the flavor tag. The ratings are for the masala variant.

While some are ardent fans of cheesy pastas there are others who love chatpata and masaledaar pastas. And Sunfeast offers something for everyone through their instant pasta range.

We picked up 4 variants from the Sunfeast Yippee Pasta range – Masala, Tomato Cheese, Sour Cream Onion and Creamy Corn Tricolor Pasta. In our review, we closely gauge how flavorful these pastas turn out, their texture, and how easy the cooking process is. We at Team Mishry were super excited for this review test.

Which flavor from the above list hit the bullseye? Find out in our Sunfeast Yippee Pasta Flavors review.

Before moving forward with the detailed review for each variant, here are a few points we would like you to know.

  • All the variants that we reviewed come in a quantity of 65 gm.
  • The tastemaker comes packed separately for all the variants.
  • We followed the exact same method of preparation as mentioned on the pack. From the cooking instructions to the quantity of water everything was followed as mentioned.
  • The pack mentions two methods for cooking this pasta including – stove top method and the microwave method. We followed the stove top method.

1. Masala

Flavor - 4/5
Texture - 4/5

The Masala pasta variant has a yellow color outer pack. This variant includes fusilli shaped pasta. We checked for the aroma as we opened the tastemaker. It has a very Indian-style masala aroma, with a dominant presence of red chilli.

The tastemaker has a burnt orange color. Taste-wise, we loved this variant the most among the others. Post- cooking, we found the pasta to be well seasoned and masaledaar. The pasta is quick-cooking and soft but retains a marginal bite.

2. Tomato Cheese

Flavor - 2/5
Texture - 2/5

This variant comes in an orange color outer pack. It includes the macaroni shaped pasta. The tastemaker has a prominent aroma of tomatoes.

The tomato flavor seems very artificial. It lacks the freshness and tang expected from a tomato based pasta. Yes, even instant ones. Even the cheese flavor isn’t appetising.

Texture-wise also, we were not quite impressed with this tomato cheese pasta. Even though the entire cooking process was the same, this was mushier than the rest.

  • The fresh tomato tang in this variant is missing.

3. Sour Cream Onion

Flavor - 3/5
Texture - 3/5

The Sour Cream Onion variant from the Sunfeast Yippee Pasta range comes in a green color pack. This is a macaroni shaped pasta.

The tastemaker is white in color and has a dominant aroma of cheese. We could smell it as soon as we opened the pouch.

Unlike the tomato cheese variant, the macaroni did not break or become a mush, the pasta retained its shape. Texture wise, it was slightly better than the other macaroni shape we tested. We liked the balanced seasoning and the mild flavor of cheese. There was also a hint of sourness, but the onion flavor wan’t prominent at all. The consistency of this pasta was slightly creamy.

Best Suited For

If you wish to try something sour, cheesy and creamy, we recommend you to try this variant.

4. Creamy Corn Tricolor Pasta

Flavor - 1/5
Texture - 2/5

The Creamy Corn Tricolor Pasta comes in a light blue color outer pack. This variant is different from the other three since it includes 3 different color pastas  – white, orange and green. These are fusilli shaped pasta.

During the dry inspection of the masala, we observed that the tastemaker was white in color. It has a prominent aroma of cheese which doesn’t ultimately reflect in the taste. We could see a few green specs and some pieces of dehydrated corn. Compared to the above 3 variants, this pasta turned out to be our least favorite. The process for cooking this pasta was slightly different than the above variants and we followed it thoroughly.

The overall taste of this pasta was bland with no actual flavor of cheese. The seasoning is too low and consistency of the pasta is off. While the pasta cooked well, the creamy consistency we were looking for was missing. The amount of corn added was less compared to the overall quantity of the pasta. The fresh flavor of herbs was missing as well.

  • It lacks the rich creamy consistency.
  • The proportion of corn to the overall pasta is less.
  • The herby flavor is missing.
  • While the aroma is cheesy, it does not taste like it.

Our Top Picks & Recommendations

From the 4 variants that we reviewed above, the Masala flavor turned out to be our Top Pick. We highly recommend trying this variant since it has a masaledaar taste and an appetizing aroma.

The second variant that we liked from the above list was Sour Cream Onion. The combination of the cheese and sour flavor tasted delicious.

The Tomato Cheese Pasta Treat and the Creamy Corn Tricolor Pasta were a let down and failed to impress us both taste and texture wise.

Final Words

We reviewed 4 different variants of pasta from the Sunfeast Yippee Pasta range. The fact that these pasta are made using 100% suji is quite impressive. Each pack of the above instant pasta is ideal for single serving.
