Summary

Oats, chocolate, and almonds, the Sunfeast Farmlite Oats with Chocolate biscuits are a fibrous on-the-go snack.

Introduction

Tea time snacks like cookies and biscuits, even namkeen are being launched in healthier avatars. Whether it is baked multigrain chiwda or biscuits made without refined sugar and flour, manufacturers are focusing more on superfoods or good-for-health ingredients.

That being said, the unwritten rule for a tea/coffee snack is that it must be tasty. Tasty enough for you to go back for seconds.

We tried the chocolate variant from the Active Oats range of Sunfeast. Are these crisp like regular cookies? Could we taste the chocolate? What about ‘the bite’? All you need to know about these no maida cookies is covered in Team Mishry’s Sunfeast Farmlite Active Oats with Chocolate biscuits review.

Sunfeast Active Farmlite oats with chocolate is a minimally sweet cookie.

Sunfeast Farmlite Oats with Chocolate biscuits made using wheat flour, oat flakes, chocolate chips, almonds, and other cookie ingredients. The pack mentions how these chocolate cookies are free of maida. Made using Aashirvaad Atta, we were curious to find out how the atta-oats-chocolate combination would taste. More importantly, how would it taste like with tea/coffee?

Following are details like price and packaging, taste and texture of these oats cookies. Are they simply chocolate-flavored or do they contain chocolate?

1. Packaging

One box of these Active Oats cookies contains eight individual packs. Each pack has two biscuits which make one serving.

2. Ingredients

Wheat flour (atta) (31,3%), oat flakes(20.3%), sugar, refined palm oil, plain chocolate chips(6.2%), cocoa solids(1.4%), almonds(1.4%), and iodized salt are the main ingredients used in these biscuits.

3. Taste

First things first, these cookies weren’t just topped with chocolate chips but there were chocolate chips on the inside too! This elevated our experience significantly.

Talking about the chocolate flavor from the cocoa solids, these biscuits showed decent levels of sweetness with an intense chocolate flavor.

Similarly, the almond bits amalgamated well with the rest of the ingredients.

4. Flavour

These cookies have a delectable chocolate flavor without the overloaded sweetness.

These cookies are made using refined palm oil. No industrial or rancid taste was noticed.

5. Bite/Mouth Feel

Typically cookies or biscuits with lower fat content are dense and hard to eat. These chocolate cookies were crunchy and feel fibrous!

The edges on them weren’t brittle or broken which makes it a decent option to be served to guests.

These chocolate oats cookies were a hit, in terms of taste. What we really liked about these cookies were the chocolate chips. The chips hadn’t just been added as toppings but they were also added to the batter with almond bits.

The chocolate chips on the inside were melted and lent a different texture. Perfect to be paired with a cup of coffee, these oats cookies can be an alternative to regular digestive biscuits.

That being said, we believe better (nutrient-dense) alternatives to refined palm oil and sugar could have been added.
