What are we looking for?  We are looking for crunchy cookies that showcase a balanced sweetness. Additionally, we expect the center filling to be rich and creamy. 

To better understand the taste of each variant, we reviewed these cookies on the following parameters : 

1. Flavor 

The star of any cream-filled biscuit is the center filling. How flavorful and rich is the center filling? Does it justify the flavor tag? Is the sweetness balanced? How do the biscuits taste? Since these are dark chocolate biscuits, how intense is the bitterness? Is there any artificial aftertaste?  The aroma was also checked here. 

2. Texture 

Here we assess the texture of the outer biscuits and cream separately. How crisp are these biscuits? Did it pass our dunk test? How creamy and smooth is the center filling? Does it melt in the mouth, or is it dry?  

3. Other Parameters

• Appearance: Do these biscuits showcase uniformity in terms of shape and size? Any broken ones observed? How appealing is the design of these biscuits? 
• Packaging: How securely are these biscuits packed? Are these placed in a tray? Is the pack resealable? 
• Ingredients : We check the ingredients to find the sources of sugar used? Are these biscuits loaded with preservatives? 
• Nutritional Information : Here we check the total fat, sugar, calories and other aspects of each variant.

In this segment, we discuss the pros, cons, and our experience of each variant in detail. Before we get into the details of the individual variants, here are a few common aspects :

• Both the variants of Sunfeast Dark Fantasy Vanilla Crème biscuits come in a foil pack.
• The packs were not resealable.
• While Vanilla Crème biscuits come in a blue color pack, the Choco Crème variant comes in a dark brown color pack.
• There are 10 biscuits included in a 100 gm pack.
• No tray holds these biscuits, and gladly all the biscuits were delivered unbroken. Thumbs up!
• These round-shaped biscuits have the words ‘Dark Fantasy’ embossed in the center. It has a beautiful floral design on both sides. Visually it’s appealing.

1. Vanilla Crème

Product Inspection: Appearance-wise, the biscuit discs showcase a dark brown color. There is a thin layer of vanilla cream in the center. The proportion of the cream to the biscuit is appropriate. On opening the pack, a strong but industrial aroma of vanilla was noticeable. 

Our Experience: For our review process, we tasted these biscuits in three stages: 

First Stage: In this stage, we tasted the center filling alone. It is creamy and tastes sweet. 

Second Stage: Herein, we tasted the outer biscuit separately. These showcase a dark chocolate-like flavor. The taste is slightly bitter. 

Third Stage: The last stage was the collective bite! These biscuits as a whole taste divine. The partnership between dark chocolate biscuit and the creamy vanilla filling is delicious. The vanilla cream balances the bitterness of the dark chocolate biscuit. When we have these with milk, the overall bitterness of the chocolate tones down. 

On removing the upper layer of biscuits, we observed that the center filling does not move. It stays intact on one part of the biscuit! The target audience, i.e kids, will relish this. 

In terms of the texture, the center filling of vanilla is quite moist and creamy. It is not dry and has a texture similar to icing. The biscuit discs have a nice crunch to them. Post-dunking these in warm milk, they do not get soggy. Moreover, the biscuits retain their crunch despite being kept open for 2 to 3 hours. Impressive!

2. Choco Crème

Product Inspection: Sunfeast Dark Fantasy Choco Crème biscuits have a thin layer of chocolate cream sandwiched between two biscuits. The chocolate cream covers the biscuit disc entirely. On opening the pack, the sharp aroma of vanilla was prominent. It was uninviting and felt industrial. Thumbs down for this!

Our Experience: We tasted these biscuits over three stages to understand the taste in a better way : 

First Stage: Here we tested the flavor of the cream filling. It is sweet and has a delicious chocolate flavor. However, the slight industrial taste was a letdown! 

Second Stage: The biscuit discs have a dark chocolate-like taste. They are not overly sweet. 

Third Stage: Here comes the collective bite. As we took a bite, these biscuits did not feel sweet compared to how a regular cream biscuit should taste. The majority part of the sweetness comes due to the chocolate cream inside. Since the layer of cream fills the entire biscuit, you can taste the chocolate flavor in each bite.  

Texture-wise, we give full marks to these biscuits. The creaminess and the moistness of the chocolate layer inside are appreciated. When dipped in warm milk, the biscuits retain their crunch. It does not get soggy.

In conclusion, we liked the Vanilla Crème biscuits more than the Choco Crème ones. The flavor of the sweet and creamy vanilla filling together with the dark chocolate biscuits was a delight. However, the industrial flavor of the chocolate cream brought down the score for the Choco Crème biscuits. 

We give full marks for the texture of the cream and the biscuits for both variants.
