#FirstImpressions Of Maggi’s Three New Flavors

Price and Packaging

Maggi’s new range is available in single packs as well as a combo box which we got for our review via Amazon. The yellow box contains 12 packs of the three new flavors (3 flavors x 4 packs each). This combo box is priced at Rs 180/-.

We tried all three variants of the new flavors of instant noodles by Maggi and made them using the instructions given on the pack. No condiments or extra seasonings were added to the Maggi as we wanted to gauge individual flavors. Here is our review of all three flavors.

Maggi Desi Cheesy Review

The Maggi 2-Minute Noodles – Desi Cheesy comes in a yellow and blue packet. When we were cooking the Desi Cheesy Maggi, our entire review lab had a lovely cheddar cheese-like aroma. Everyone peeped from behind their work stations to see what’s cooking.

The tastemaker of the Maggi Desi Cheesy contains cheese powder (Cheddar cheese (10.9%), Maltodextrin). 100 grams of the Maggi-Desi Cheesy provides 439 Kcal of energy.

Taste-wise, this Maggi variant has a subtle oregano and cheese flavor, which is quite good. The mild cheddar cheese flavor was very warming. Quite often, cheddar cheese flavored snacks and noodles can get unbearably over-salted. Thankfully that wasn’t the case here, and we found the cheese flavored Maggi very balanced. This is a good flavor for people who love cheesy Maggi.

Maggi Chatpata Tomato Review

The Maggi 2-Minute Noodles Chatpata Tomato comes in a red and yellow pack. Out of all the three variants, this one had the most appetizing aroma, and we all were eagerly waiting to taste this one.

The tastemaker contains dehydrated tomato paste solids (Tomato paste 13.3%, Anticaking agent, and iodized salt). 100 grams of the Maggi-Chatpata Tomato provides 446 Kcal of energy.

Maggi Yummy Capsica Review

The Maggi 2-Minute Noodles Yummy Capsica comes in a green and yellow pack. There is a strong, definite capsicum aroma at first, which reduces as the noodles cook.

The tastemaker contains capsicum extract powder (1%). 100 grams of the Maggi-Yummy Capsica provides 446 Kcal of energy.

When we tasted these noodles, we could not get a flavor-punch, which we anticipated. Even though we could spot chunks of dehydrated capsicum on our plate, we could not actually taste it.

The capsicum flavor is extremely mild, and we did not like the flavor of this variant. This rather bland flavored Maggi was our least favorite. At the end of the review, this was the only plate of Maggi that was the most full, and we did not want to eat it.

Wrapping Up!

If you are someone who is fond of tangy tomato flavors, this is the one for you. The Chatpata Tomato Maggi is the most flavorful Maggi variant amongst the three new entrants.

In fact, this flavor came the closest to the original classic Masala Maggi. The seasoning is very well balanced and is quite delicious and tangy. This was definitely the most flavorful variant.

Maggi is not something you pull out when you’re looking to eat something healthy or if you’re counting calories. Maggi is comfort food (or waiting-for-my-salary food). Maggi resonates with hostel students who live-off instant noodles.

Not many people would want to deviate from the classic flavors, but if you are someone who wouldn’t mind experimenting with flavors or like trying something new, do give the new Maggi range a try. Our recommendations include the Maggi Chatapata Tomato and Maggi Desi Cheesy. The Maggi Yummy Capsica didnt feature in our top spot.

We loved the Maggi Chatpata Tomato and Maggi Desi Cheesy. The Capsica flavor can be avoided.
