Looms & Weaves Organic Banana Chips Review

Banana chips are agreeably one of the most addictive regional snacks in India. Banana chips can be crunchy, chewy, sweet, and salty. The type of bananas used to make chips, the cooking oil and the seasoning used in the chips, collectively determine the overall quality and taste of banana chips.

We reviewed Looms & Weaves Organic Banana Chips and here is what we thought about it. Did we stop after just one or was the bag over in minutes?

#FirstImpression Of Looms & Weaves Organic Banana Chips

Price and packaging – These chips come in a very simple brown pack which is resealable. From the font and colors to the graphics used, every little detail gives out a very artisanal look. A 400-gram pack is priced at Rs 399/- and a 250-gram pack is priced at Rs 249/-. If compared to a regular ‘namkeen-bhandaar’ bought banana chips, these are steeply-priced. There is a lot of detailed information on the pack including customer care number, website, and more.

List of ingredients – The list of ingredients says ‘100% Pure Homemade Banana Chips’ but fails to mention the oil they have cooked them in or the type of bananas used to make them. That being said, they have mentioned somewhere on the pack that these are ripened bananas cooked in wood pressed coconut oil. We felt the list of ingredients could have been more descriptive. There was no mention of salt too (which was definitely present). On the upside, these have no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.

Shape and size – Unlike most banana chips, which are thick round disc-shaped, these banana chips are shaped differently. These chips are thin long flat cuts of bananas that curl up on the sides when fried. They aren’t uniform in shape or size, but that is what spells out ‘homemade‘ to us.

Looms & Weaves Organic Banana Chips Review

Taste – These chips taste amazing! They are crunchy and chewy in bits and pieces. Don’t expect a supreme crunch when you bite into them. They have a slightly soft edge. They taste very fresh and the banana flavor is subtle. The mild sweetness that comes from the bananas and the saltiness (which isn’t mentioned on the pack) is spot on.

Final verdict – ADDICTIVE! We couldn’t stop eating these. With a cup of chai or coffee or for when kids want to munch on something, these banana chips are perfect. Every 28 grams has 144 calories, so don’t mistake it for ‘light’ snacking. It is a high-calorie snack and should be eaten in moderation.

Looms & Weaves Organic Banana Chips are made using coconut oil.

Some store-bought banana chips taste industrial and you end up feeling very heavy after eating just a handful. That wasn’t the case with Looms & Weaves Organic Banana Chips. We were munching non-stop and finished a 400-gram bag within two days. We say the calories were worth it!
