What does ‘zero’ signify in Go Zero? Zero fat? Zero sugar?

We set out to decode this by doing a vigilant scan on the ingredient list and nutrition labels. Taste, texture, freshness were observed and the ice cream was rated accordingly.

1. Flavor

How close does this flavor come to a glass of cold brew coffee? Is the intensity of coffee subtle or bold? We were looking for a coffee-flavored ice cream with a natural-tasting sweetness. The ice cream should have a milky freshness and be devoid of industrial flavors.

2. Texture

A smooth, melt in the mouth scoop was what we anticipated. Uniformity in the consistency throughout the tub with an absence of an icy layer would get this scoring commendable marks on this parameter.

3. Nutrition Quotient

Balanced calories and a healthy distribution of macronutrients was what we wanted in this ice cream.

Price + Packaging 

 This ice cream is packed in a single-serving tub that holds 100 grams of the product. It is priced at ₹ 120/- and has a shelf life of 12 months.

Main Ingredients 

This ice cream is made with Milk and Milk solids, Maltitol, Fructooligosaccaride, Coffee (1.5%), Cocoa solids, Permitted emulsifier (471, 433), Stabiliser (412, 407, 461), Stevia.

Milk and milk solids make this a medium fat ice cream. Additionally, they also add some good quality protein. Malitol, a sugar alcohol, has a minimum of 75% sweetness as tablesugar, with a much milder effect on blood glucose levels. Fructooligosaccharides, another artificial sweetener, doubles as a prebiotic and aides mineral absorption.

That being said, because this ice cream contains compounds that are not naturally-occurring and contain emulsifiers and stabilisers, we suggest strongly consuming this mindfully.

Aroma + Appearance 

We were delighted to see no icy layer on top. This was well set and had a brown hue with a prominent aroma of coffee.

Taste + Texture 

Smooth. Decadent. Just perfect.

Go Zero Cold Brew Coffee ice cream had a premium mouthfeel with a pleasing flavor. The sweetness was balanced and we loved the flavor of coffee. It was bold but not bitter. We could taste some milky flavor notes, and overall this was fresh tasting. Big thumbs up for how there was no synthetic taste of the sweeteners used.

In terms of mouthfeel, this was devoid of any grainy or gritty texture. The consistency was even throughout. Very smooth, very premium tasting, plus this did not feel too dense or heavy on the palate.
