Construction

This is a sleek, elegant-looking coffee maker. It does not occupy much counter space nor is it heavy to carry. Most kitchen appliances are bulky and heavy which makes them very difficult to pick and clean underneath.

There is a lever at the top where you insert the coffee pod/capsule. Right under it is the base (drip grid) to place the glass/mug. This is detachable and doubles as a drip tray. It has the brand name on it and can be detached and cleaned from inside. Similarly, you can also slide out the capsule container which collects used coffee capsules. The water tank is attached at the back and is transparent. You can easily peek and check the water level and add more if needed. Right behind the lever where you add coffee pods, are two buttons. One is for espresso and the other is for lungo.

Did you know? The difference between espresso and lungo is the quantity of water used. Lungo uses almost double the amount of water and takes longer to pull as compared to an espresso. Lungo means long in Italian.

Usability & Compatibility

The Coffeeza coffee machine is compatible with Coffeeza capsules and Nespresso pods.

This coffee machine can be used to prepare only espresso shots, lungo, americano. This is to say that you can prepare only variants of black coffee.

However, frothed milk can be added separately to make a cappuccino or latte. You can also add ice to the glass and cold frothed milk to make iced coffee beverages.

What we made

We tested both options, espresso and lungo using the coffee capsules by Coffeeza. We tested Cremoso, Classico, Forte and Intenso capsules.

Our Experience

First things first, Coffeeza Finero Next Coffee Machine was very easy to set up. The instructions on the manual too were beginner-friendly and easy to follow.

Be it a blender or a water filter and even a coffee machine, kitchen appliances must be washed once or twice before being put to actual use. And this was instructed in the manual too.

First use- Warming the machine

We detached the water tank which came off quite effortlessly, not a lot of pulling-pushing.

  • We just had to press it downward and twist it outward. Fresh water was filled to the ‘MAX’ marking.
  • Always ensure you do not go beyond this level. We put the jar back into the machine, plugged the cord into a power socket and switched it on. To ensure thorough cleaning of the coffee maker from within, we pressed Lungo and noticed that both buttons started flashing, as mentioned in the manual. (A pumping sound was noticed, it signified water was being pumped for brewing.)
  • This indicates the machine is preheating. It took around half a minute to preheat, the blinking stopped and it was ready to start the brewing process.
  • During this round of testing, we did not add any capsules. This stage was only brewing hot water, letting it run through the machine to clean it well and eliminate the odour that new appliances have for the first few times. After repeating this twice, we discarded the water and it was time to get our HQ aromatic like a cafe.

Important note – Never add hot water to the tank, it can lead to an electrical failure. Never add milk in the water tank, as it will spoil the entire machine.

Now, the part of the review we’ve all been waiting for-

Preparing the coffee – Espresso and lungo

  • Step one was the same. Filling (room temperature) water upto the max marking. We plugged the machine in, switched it on, and it was time to start brewing.
  • We started by inserting a Classico pod and placing a cup on the drip tray. The lever was securely shut before we chose between brewing an espresso or lungo.
  • We started with an espresso and the indicator light on the espresso button started flashing. After it was completely dispersed, the light turned steady, indicating the process was complete. This took around 30 seconds.
  • Similarly, when we opted for a lungo, the lungo button flashed. Only this time, it took around one minute for complete dispersion.
  • Please note, we used a new capsule for both. Each capsule serves a single use only.
The capsule can be inserted with ease in the space provided.

Did we achieve the layer of crema?

Coffee aficionados know the importance of the presence of the coffee crema. Crema is a rich, aromatic, flavorful layer of maroon-colored froth that rests on top of the espresso. This forms when the soluble oils from finely ground coffee combine with air bubbles.

Crema doesn’t just speak of the quality of the ground coffee but also of the coffee maker (equipment and person, both).

All four flavors of our espresso had a beautiful layer of crema.

Cleaning & Maintenance

We’ve explained the detailed cleaning process before the first use above. Coffeeza recommends clearing and cleaning the capsule container after each use. As for maintenance, always ensure the power supply is disconnected when the machine is not in use.

PS- the machine enters standby mode when inactive for over 10 minutes.

This coffee maker is meant for brewing 10-20 cups a day. It is recommended to not overuse the machine and let it rest before the next use.
