The Britannia Nut & Raisin Romance cake comes in brown color packaging. The cake is placed in a tray, and is divided into 5 thick slices.

The ingredients used in this cake include – Refined wheat flour (maida), eggs, sugar, edible hydrogenated veg oil and palmolein oil, raisins (8.8%), humectant (420 and 422), orange peel, almonds (2.7%), maltose syrup, invert syrup, butter (1.7%), milksolids, cake gel (emulsifiers and stabilizer 471, 477), humectant 420 (i), raising agents (341 (i), 450 (i) and 500 (ii), baking powder, iodized salt and preservatives (202 and 282).

Contains permitted natural (150 C and 150 D) and synthetic 110,102, 122, 132 and 133, food colors and added flavors (natural, nature identical and artificial (milk, plum, fruit and vanilla) flavoring substances .

Contains wheat, eggs, nuts and milk. Polyols may have a laxative effect.

3. Taste

Starting with the sweetness of these cakes, it is well balanced and does not get overpowering. The orange rinds add a nice citrus flavor to these cakes and balance the sweet taste. There is a prominent flavor of citrus that is present in every bite.

Despite the usage of eggs in the cake, the taste does not feel eggy. We expected the almonds to add a nice crunch to this cake. Instead, the crunch from the nuts is rather subtle.

The aroma of this cake is citrusy. 

5. Texture

Texture is an essential aspect of reviewing any packaged cake. Texture-wise, the Britannia Nuts & Raisins Romance cake was soft and moist. 

The presence of raisins adds a lovely soft texture to the cake’s exterior.  However, we did feel that the texture was a bit crumbly. 

6. Appearance

The slices of this cake were thick, which is typically not seen in many packaged cakes. We were able to see visible pieces of raisins and almonds spread evenly throughout the cake.  

7. After Taste

After taste is the feeling we experience post indulging in any food item. The after-taste of the Britannia Nut & Raisins Romance cake was zesty and citrusy.
