Summary

24 Mantra 7 Grain Methi Atta gets a green signal from Team Mishry. It has a clean ingredient list, desirable texture, and an impressive nutritional label. The rotis do have a methi-like bitterness which can be reduced with the use of some ghee.

With the onset of winter, our diet takes a sharp turn towards leafy greens, millets and some ghee-smeared rustic rotis. The switch to healthier alternatives of plain flour is certainly on the rise. Some of the popular choices of healthy atta includes – bajra atta, oats atta, millet atta, beetroot atta amongst others. Looking at this shift, many brands now offer them for our convenience and ease. We recently got our hands on 24 Mantra’s newest 7 Grain Methi Atta.

Procedure To Knead The Dough

The kneading process as mentioned on the pack is as follows:

  • With water make some dough.
  • Rest the dough for 1 hour before making the roti.
  • The dough may get hard with time. In that case sprinkle some water to knead and soften the dough.
  • Sheet and cook like regular atta.
  • Enjoy your methi roti along with dal and curry to mask the inherent bitter taste of methi.

How We Prepared The Dough

We followed the exact same process for kneading the dough as mentioned on the pack.

Our Observations

Kneading Process

The overall process of kneading the dough was easy. We did not require any extra water for the process. Usually, a millet-based atta might become tough to roll out. However, that was not the case here. These rotis were pretty easy and smooth to roll out.

Appearance

Both the dough and the rotis have a rustic look. These showcase a brownish-beige color tone.

Overall Cooking

We have no complaints when it comes to cooking these rotis. These were easy to cook and puffed up really well.

Taste

Millet rotis are known for their nutty flavor and we appreciate that flavor in these rotis as well. However, it leaves behind a slightly bitter aftertaste (which is clearly stated on the pack).

We tasted this roti with both ghee and without ghee. If you find the taste of these rotis to be extremely bitter as per your palette, we advise to apply some ghee as it will help lower the bitterness to some extent.

Texture

Texture-wise, too, these rotis were excellent. These are soft. A point of appreciation is that even after the rotis were cooled down they did not become hard and retained their softness. This could be ideal when you think of packing these in a lunchbox.

Certifications

In addition, to the above observations 24 Mantra 7 Grain Methi Atta is certified as per the Indian, US and European Organic standards.

It holds the following certifications:

Jaivik Bharat : The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) brought in the Jaivik Bharat logo to help customers identify authentic organic food.
